Feria de Sevilla 24/04 - 29/04
The Seville fair is one of Spain's most vibrant and flamboyant attractions. Covering 1.2 million square metres the city's fairground is transformed into a small city by a multitude of canvas pavilions laid out in rows. Dressed in traditional Flamenco costume Seville society parades these 'streets' in carriages, on horse back or by foot. With flamenco music being played and the obligatory sherry being drunk in the pavilions this all creates a spectacle not to be missed.
During your weeks riding holiday we will visit the Feria de Sevilla. In the morning you will have time to explore the old city along with the Cathedral and Moorish palace. After lunch we will visit the Feria and take in the sights and sounds of traditional Andalucia.

The fair is an exciting and lively event and brings the best horses of Jerez to show off to the crowds. Next to the fairground is an exhibition hall where there are equine competitions such as best of breed, etc. You can also see young stock for sale and there is a shopping village selling equine products.
During your weeks riding holiday we will visit the Feria del Caballo. In the morning we will visit the Royal Spanish Riding School of Jerez where you will see a fantastic display of high school dressage. In the afternoon we will visit the Feria. There will then be plenty of time to roam the fairground and exhibition hall.

Horse Racing at Sanlucar in August
With it's first race being run in 1845 Sanlucar de Barremeda is home to the oldest horse race in Spain, and one of the oldest in Europe. As well as history this race is also very special and unique as the race course is the beach at the mouth of the river Guadalquiver. Run over 1,800m the races are a thrilling spectacle where racehorses thunder across the sand watched by a large noisy crowd of spectators. There is nothing amateur about this event and you can expect to see spectator stands, bookmakers, paddocks and of course the winners enclosure. Races are run during two periods in August, although the dates for 2012 are still to be anounced.
During your weeks riding holiday we will spend a day visiting the Royal Spanish Riding School at Jerez in the morning. After lunch we will then travel to Sanlucar to watch the evening horse racing.
