A Beach Gallop
Superb Working Adventure Holiday
We take guests on a working adventure holiday, spending 4 weeks or more with us. These positions are based on our normal riding holiday, plus helping our groom to care for the horses. In return you will receive a four week holiday (or more if you wish) at a small percentage of the normal cost. While you are here with us you will be able to gain a knowledge of horse care, as well as experiencing a different culture and lifestyle to the full. Applicants must be able to ride and handle a horse confidently, or have experience working with horses. We have a minimum age of 18 but we have no upper age limit.
Practical Equestrian Experience
Guests joining us on this programme will receive practical experience in running an equestrian focused holiday organisation. We are all very experienced equestrians here, and have a large pool of knowledge to share.
Specific skills covered will include:
- Feeding and routine health care of horses.
- Tacking up and correct fitting of the tack.
- The cleaning and care of tack.
- Riding and instruction where required.
- Basic veterinary skills.

What you will receive
- Accommodation with a private bedroom in a shared apartment.
- Practical experience of working with horses
- Two or three full day rides per week. In total ten full day rides are provided.
- Provisions for preparing Breakfasts in the apartments.
- Lunch in restaurants on riding days, provisions in apartments on non riding days.
- Dinner in restaurants each evening when we have weekly guests, provisions in apartments at times when we have no weekly guests.
- Transfers between Malaga airport and Barbate on arrival and departure day.
- Two free days per week.
What we expect from you.
- Helping our groom for 2.5 hours in the morning and 3 hours in the evening, two or three days a week. In total ten days are spent helping our groom.
- Exercising non-working horses when necessary.
- Helping guests prepare to ride their horses and offering advice where possible.

Places available
There are two places available per month starting in fortnightly intervals.
Transportation.
Trainees will be met at Malaga Airport at 14:30 at the start of the holiday and returned to Malaga airport arriving at 11:00 at the end of the holiday.
Requirements
We have a weight limit of 13 stone (182 pounds) maximum.
To join this programme you must be minimum of 18 years old.
Additional Opportunities
The area is ideal for many water sports, including windsurfing and sailing. Trainees can go SCUBA diving or take certification classes at a nearby dive centre. Nocturnally, beach bars offer a nice atmosphere to have a drink and listen to music or the sound of the waves. There is a museum in Barbate depicting life man years ago that does not charge admission. The Royal Spanish Riding School and Gibraltar are interesting day trips. Other nearby places worth visiting are Cádiz, Tarifa and Vejer de la Frontera. Due to the close proximity to north Africa, a day trip to Tangiers can also be arranged.
Working Holiday Availability
Please note that each placement lasts for four weeks, and that we have two places for each month of the year. The commencement date for each position is at two week intervals. During the winter months we have four places per month with two positions for each commencement date. This programme is very popular and places are taken up very quickly once dates are released. The chart below is updated regularly and shows availability as of 5th May 2008. Exchange rate used 1.24 euros to the pound current at 5th May 2008.

Cost are for one 28 day period.
Flights, visas (where applicable) and insurance are not included. Equestrians must have fully comprehensive travel insurance.
