We have now filled our groom position for 2012. If you are interested in any positions that we may have in the future please email us your C.V. and we will keep your details on file.
Ideally we would prefer a couple with the partner able to work part time with the horses and help with the farm maintenance. Our groom helps us with the smooth running of our yard and the care of our sixteen horses.
To be considered for this position you must be over 25 years old and have a minimum of two years previous experience working full time in the horse industry.
Our groom needs to be self motivated, able to work on your own unsupervised and with others.
You should be a confident rider, capable of handling and riding youngsters, and have a good sound knowledge of basic horse first aid and lameness.
There will be a lot of contact with guests, therefore applicants should have good people skills and an enthusiastic outlook on life.
Our holidays are based in the seaside town of Barbate where all our guests stay. Our farm where our horses are kept is in a small hamlet called San Ambrosio at the centre of the Barbate nature reserve. The farm backs onto the nature reserve and allows immediate access to all our riding trails.
Our groom's accommodation is in a two bedroom house close to the horses in the lovely hamlet of San Ambrosio. You would share the apartment with our other employee. A couple would have the house to themselves.
We operate week long and short break riding holidays and have holidays scheduled in throughout the year.
The normal working day consists of 3 hours in the morning and 3.5 hours in the afternoon plus riding time when horses need to be exercised.
You will work five and a half days each week with 1 full day off and 1 half day. This is normally a 36 hour week, plus any riding required during the week.
