Our horse care.
Our horses are kept in the most natural way possible by living together turned out in our fields. Partly covered by a pine wood the fields provide the horses with plenty of shelter from sun, wind and rain. The horses are brought into our stalls twice a day and given hard feed. Hay is provided ad lib in the fields for them. This system of horse care allows the horses to socialise with each other and enables them to be a contented and happy bunch. On work days the horses are turned out to the highest standard, fit, and happy to work. Our standard of horse care is high with the health and welfare of the horses being paramount.
Our horses
Our horses are well mannered, forward going and responsive, with a kind calm temperament. We have 15 Andalusian crosses, ranging from 14.3hh to 16.3hh in size. Our horses are sure footed, hardy, extremely strong and used to working in the warm Spanish climate. The horses are bought locally and their initial training has been Spanish Vaquera (similar to western riding). This makes the horses very responsive to weight and seat, and able to neck rein. We re-school the horses ourselves to the English style of riding and they enjoy being ridden in both English or Spanish styles.
Choosing your horse.
One of our most important roles for the enjoyment of your horse back riding holiday is choosing the correct horse for you. We have over 19 year’s wealth of experience in matching horse and rider. A horse will be chosen for you that will suit your riding style, ability, experience and physical size. A steady ride for the less experienced rider or a forward going ride for the more proficient and confident rider. The holiday is aimed at riders who are comfortable with a horse at all paces and within the varied environments of the forest and beach.
Tack.
We use top quality tack, with English saddles and bridles. The saddles have a comfortable seat saver for the aid of the riders.
Weight limit.
We have a weight limit of 13 stone, 83.5 kilos or 182 pounds.
Group size
The riding group is kept to a maximum of eight riders plus guides, this enables you to enjoy the experience of a small and friendly group.
