Horse care.
Our horses are kept in the most natural way possible by living together turned out in our fields. Partly covered by a pine wood the fields provide the horses with plenty of shelter from sun, wind and rain. The horses are brought into our stalls twice a day and given hard feed. Hay is provided ad lib in the fields for them. This system of horse care allows the horses to socialise with each other and enables them to become a contented and happy bunch. On work days the horses are turned out to the highest standard, fit, and happy to work. The standard of horse care is high with the health and welfare of the horses being paramount.
Choosing your horse.
One of the most important parts of your horse back riding holiday is choosing the correct horse for you. We have over 16 year’s wealth of experience in matching horse and rider. A horse will be chosen for you that will suit your riding style, ability, experience and physical size. A steady ride for the less experienced rider or a forward going ride for the more proficient and confident rider. The holiday is aimed at riders who are comfortable with a horse at all paces and in the varied environments that will be encountered.

Our horses
Our horses are well mannered, responsive and forward going, with a kind and calm temperament. We have 16 Hispano or Anglo Arabs at present, ranging from 14.3hh to 16.3hh in size. The breed is extremely sure footed and hardy, able to carry a rider at pace in the warm Spanish Andalusian climate. It is a finely built horse but incredibly strong and is often used for long distance riding or for horse back riding holidays.
All the horses have been bought locally and their initial training has been Spanish Vaquera. This style of riding is very similar to western riding, and so the horses are very responsive to weight and seat, and most of them neck rein very well. The horses are re-schooled by ourselves into a traditional English style of riding which they accept very well. Some of the horses retain their initial training and can be ridden in both English and Spanish styles.
Tack.
Top quality English saddles and tack are used, with the the saddles being fitted with a comfortable seat saver.
Weight limit.
We do have a weight limit of 13 stone (182 pounds or 83.5 kilos).
Group size
The riding group is kept to a maximum of eight riders plus guides, this enables us to enjoy a small and friendly ride out.
