You are in horse riding holiday / holiday specials
Do you want more than just a riding holiday? Then why not consider one of our special riding weeks. Throughout the year we organise riding holidays with that little bit extra added in. These weeks include our usual superb riding as well as taking advantage of special events that happen in our locality.
Organised for various weeks throughout the year this holiday includes superb riding and takes in the history and culture that the area is famous for. After riding we will take you to famous cities and places as follows;
Cadiz - The oldest continuously inhabited city in the Iberian Peninsula. The city boasts an old town characterised by its narrow streets connecting into magnificent squares, City Walls, Cathedral, an eighteenth century watchtower and an ancient Roman theatre.
Vejer - One of the famous 'Pueblos Blancos'. It contains ancient churches and convents, and the architecture of many of its houses recalls the period of Moorish rule.
Vaquera Riding - An optional visit to a Spanish Picadero to try out the Spanish style of riding.
Jerez - A non riding day where you visit the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art. After lunch there is time to take in the superb architecture of the town.
Bolonia - Has a beautiful bay and an ancient Roman town called Baelo Claudia. First settled 2,000 years ago the town was abandoned in the 6th century.
Shopping trip - On the last afternoon we visit the shopping village at Bahia Sur. A chance to buy souvenirs or that Spanish leather bag you always wanted.

Show Jumping at Vejer
Andalusia’s feria season starts with Vejer’s famous spring fair. The town's fairground is converted into a small village by colourful canvas pavilions where sherry and ’sevillano dancing’ rule. Traditionally a farmer’s fair Vejer still preserves it’s traditional flavour with horseback competitions, a cattle breeders show and open air cooking.
We are based just 15 minutes drive from Vejer and we will take you to visit the Feria in the afternoons after riding.

The Seville fair is one of Spain's most vibrant and flamboyant attractions. Covering 1.2 million square metres the city's fairground is transformed into a small city by a multitude of canvas pavilions laid out in rows. Dressed in traditional Flamenco costume Seville society parades these 'streets' in carriages, on horse back or by foot. With flamenco music being played and the obligatory sherry being drunk in the pavilions this all creates a spectacle not to be missed.
During your weeks riding holiday we will visit the Feria de Sevilla. In the morning you will have time to explore the old city along with the Cathedral and Moorish place. After lunch we will visit the Feria and take in the sights and sounds of traditional Andalucia.

Carriage Horses at Seville Fair
The Jerez fair is along the same lines as the Seville fair, where horses, flamenco and sherry are the order of the day. The fair is an exciting and lively event and brings the best horses of Jerez to show off to the crowds. Next to the fairground is an exhibition hall where there are equine competitions such as best of breed, etc. You can also see young stock for sale and there is a shopping village selling equine products.
During your weeks riding holiday we will visit the Feria del Caballo. In the morning we will visit the Royal Spanish Riding School of Jerez where you will see a fantastic display of high school dressage. In the afternoon we will visit the Feria. There will then be plenty of time to roam the fairground and exhibition hall.

Semana Santa 28 March - 4 April. Easter in Spain is a special time of year. Running from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday Holy Week sees daily processions commemorating the Passion, Death and Resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth.
Feria del Atun 27 - 30 May. This is a fair to celebrate the tuna fishing that makes up a large part of Barbate's economy. As well as Flamenco, Sherry and dancing the fairground also has a pavilion where you can taste dishes made from Tuna and other sea produce.
Fiestas del Carmen 14 - 18 July. This fair celebrates the town's Patron Saint of fisherman. As well as the obligatory sherry pavilions, the town's fairground is filled with mechanical rides like rollercoaster's and dodgem cars, etc. An exciting and noisy affair the fairground opens late evening and carries on well into the early hours of the morning.

Horse Racing at Sanlucar
With it's first race being run in 1845 Sanlucar de Barremeda is home to the oldest horse race in Spain, and one of the oldest in Europe. As well as history this race is also very special and unique as the race course is the beach at the mouth of the river Guadalquiver. Run over 1,800m the races are a thrilling spectacle where racehorses thunder across the sand watched by a large noisy crowd of spectators. There is nothing amateur about this event and you can expect to see spectator stands, bookmakers, paddocks and of course the winners enclosure. Races are run during two periods in August, the 7th to the 9th and the 19th to 21st.
During your weeks riding holiday we will spend a day visiting the Royal Spanish Riding School at Jerez in the morning. After lunch we will then travel to Sanlucar to watch the evening horse racing.
