Black Stork
On our trips to the Coto Donana in early Spring we will hope to watch Crested Coot, Marbled Duck, White-headed Duck, Pin-tailed Sandgrouse, Purple Swamp-hen, Little Bustard, Dartford Warbler, Azure-winged Magpie and Black-shouldered Kite. The Coto Donana’s wetlands will give us the chance to see lots of other beautiful species, including Black Stork, Squacco Heron, Glossy Ibis, Great White Egret, Greater Flamingo, Red-crested Pochard. We will also look for Spanish Imperial Eagle, Booted Eagle, Short-toed Eagle, Egyptian Vulture, Griffon Vulture, Peregrine, Stone-Curlew, Southern Grey Shrike, Lesser Short-toed Lark, Spotless Starling, Rock Sparrow, Serin and Azure-winged Magpie to name but a few!
During the autumn migration the sight of large flocks of raptors soaring and gliding over the Strait of Gibraltar can be enjoyed. It is by far the most spectacular of the two annual migrations, with springtime seeing much smaller flocks of birds spread more gently over the early months We can expect to see Booted and Short-toed Eagles, Marsh and Montagu’s Harriers, Honey Buzzard, Lesser Kestrels and Sparrowhawk with clouds of White Stork and the scarcer Black Stork catching huge thermals then soaring, gliding or flying across to Africa.
Some sea watching and various guided trips through the famous Alcornocales (cork oak) natural park and other protected areas are included, as well as an optional boat trip to the island of Sancti Petri and nearby mud-flat's.

If you wish to join one of our groups for a shorter period of time, please drop us an email giving dates and we will let you know about availability.
Alternatively our Safari Tour through the beautiful Alcornocales Natural Park is very popular with families here on holiday together. This is an ideal day long tour especially with younger children in mind. We take you by 4X4 along tracks that run through hidden valleys and see Wild Goats & Black Iberian Pigs feeding. Bee-eaters fly overhead and Vultures come close by as they pass over the mountain tops. We stop by a beautiful shaded spot in the mountains beside a waterfall and here you can relax and have a picnic lunch. If there is time left in the afternoon we drive to a secret cove in the Straits of Gibraltar where a fresh water spring comes out of the rock overlooking Morocco.
